Pilot is a Shopify app that adds a guided product finder and Shopify-native product recommendations to a merchant's storefront. This policy explains what data Pilot does and does not handle.

What Pilot does NOT collect

Pilot stores no shopper personal data — no names, email addresses, postal addresses, phone numbers or customer IDs. There is no external third-party API, and no data is shared with any third party.

What Pilot stores (per merchant store)

  • App configuration you create: your finder questions, recommendation settings and display options.
  • Anonymous, aggregate analytics: counts of events (finder opened/completed, recommendations shown, product clicks, add-to-carts) with a random per-visit session identifier and product IDs only. These identify no person and cannot be tied back to an individual shopper.

Data that stays in the shopper's browser

The "recently viewed" recommendation uses the shopper's own browsing history stored in their browser (localStorage). It is never sent to or stored on Pilot's servers.

How products are shown

Products are read live from Shopify's own storefront endpoints at view time. Pilot keeps no copy of a store's catalogue.

Your rights & data deletion

Pilot implements Shopify's mandatory compliance webhooks. As Pilot holds no customer personal data, customers/data_request and customers/redact have nothing to return or erase. On shop/redact (48 hours after uninstall) Pilot deletes all of that store's configuration and aggregate analytics.

Data retention

Configuration and aggregate analytics are retained while the app is installed and are deleted after uninstall via the shop/redact webhook.
